What is SITC?
God's Hands and Feet in H-Town
Soul in the City is a week of Christian service, study, worship, food, fun and fellowship. During the week, all participants are housed at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Spring, Texas. A typical day consists of personal devotions followed by breakfast, family service projects, lunch, free/fun time, dinner, study, family time, worship, church time, cookies, and much needed sleep. Soul in the City recognizes both the energy that the camp as a whole brings to fun, service, and worship, as well as the importance that small group "family time" plays in having deep meaningful discussion about the lesson and its application to our lives. As SitC is made up of youth from across the diocese, we also recognize the importance of time spent in formation with each of our youth groups and the role this plays when we return to our lives after camp; thus, every day closes with separate "church time" formation, debrief, and discussion. However, one of the most fun aspects of SitC is the "family group" - divided into HS and JH families, these consist of ten or so youth and three leaders from different age groups, generations, churches, and walks of faith. It is in these families that we serve, laugh, study, and deeply dive into our pursuit of Christ and gain an appreciation for the power of God working in each one of our stories.

Fun & Fellowship
Our meals are provided by an amazing volunteer team who go above and beyond to make sure everyone is well fed all week long! And there is an absolute MOUNTAIN of cookies involved!
Upon return from the worksites, there are always some ZANY (and sometimes wet or messy!) games and fun together before dinner. One day during the week we set aside completely for fun and rest, which sometimes includes the arcade, waterpark, or even the movies.
SitC is God's call to apostolic fellowship in action - time spent in authentic Christian community to form relationships with brothers and sisters from across the diocese, share encouragement, and build up one another in Christ's love.
Service & Study
Week-long “family group” work teams head out each morning to a day of service. In the past, worksites have included: VBS programs, food shelter serving, street church services, food pantries, meals on wheels deliveries, food banks, retirement centers, various types of special needs centers, and neighborhood renovations. We have partnered with Generation One, YWAM, Houston Food Bank, Salvation Army and many more, as we truly aim to be the hands and feet of Christ working with these ministries.
A day at SITC is book-ended by the word of God: mornings begin with devotions, quiet time and prayer, then a teaching that lays out the plan for the day. The evening closes with a homily that ties into the message for the week. Family groups then gather to discuss their day and their lives through the lens of the lesson.
Prayer & Worship
SitC is a constant conversation with God - families praying over their worksites, youth and leaders praying over requests in the prayer room, even our awesome volunteer prayer warriors praying over us at home.
Isn't all of this worship?! Of course! Even so, every evening concludes with a time of worship spent in song; on Wednesday night, we take the gospel out to the city of Houston; and on Friday evening, we take part in a full worship service following the traditional liturgy. Regardless of the setting, every time spent in worship is a time to humble ourselves before God and give Him the glory.
